The combination of rose and dulse in skincare formulations presents a wealth of advantages for enhancing skin health. Rose, with its delicate petals and enchanting aroma, is celebrated for its powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. These qualities work harmoniously to soothe irritated skin, offering a calming effect while deeply hydrating it. The gentle fragrance of rose delights the senses and promotes relaxation and tranquillity.
In contrast, dulse—a nutrient-rich sea vegetable—boasts an impressive profile filled with essential minerals, vitamins, and beneficial peptides. These components are crucial in promoting skin hydration, enhancing firmness, and overall improving the skin's vitality. When these two remarkable ingredients are thoughtfully combined, they formulate a potent skincare serum that not only moisturises but also rejuvenates the complexion.
Together, roses and dulse create a luxurious experience, blending hydrating properties with a refreshing, aromatic quality. This synergy makes the Dulse and Rose Vitamin C Serum an exceptional choice for those seeking to elevate their skincare routine with nature's nourishing benefits.
Ingredients
2 cups distilled water
1/4 cup dulse flakes
1/4 cup rose hips
1 tablespoon orange peel powder
2 tablespoons aloe vera gel
Method
1.In a small saucepan, combine water, dulse flakes, rose hips, and orange powder. Simmer the mixture over low-medium heat for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Skim off any foam that appears on the surface. Once the mixture is reduced by half, remove it from the heat.
2. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve. Initially, it may appear muddy. Dispose of the residue in the sieve, then wash and rinse the sieve thoroughly. Line the sieve with several layers of muslin and filter the mixture for a second time to obtain a more translucent liquid, approximately measuring 1/4 cup. Add aloe, hydrosol, and vegetable glycerine to the cooled liquid and mix thoroughly.
3. Once the mixture has cooled, use a small funnel to pour it into a sterilised spray bottle. Store any unused bottles in the refrigerator until needed.
