About the event
Join us for an engaging and interactive kokedama workshop, where you’ll learn the beautiful art of creating your very own stunning kokedama plant! In this class, you'll explore how to craft these exquisite Japanese moss ball planters, and by the end of the session, you’ll take home your unique creation. If you're new to kokedama making, there's no need to worry!
A kokedama is a delightful plant sculpture featuring lush roots artfully suspended within a verdant ball of nutrient-rich compost, gently wrapped in soft, vibrant moss. The term ‘kokedama’ comes from Japanese, with 'koke' meaning moss and 'dama' translating to ball, perfectly capturing the essence of this art form. The enchanting process known as ne-arai happens when bonsai trees are carefully removed from their pots, allowing their untouched roots to sprout a lovely layer of moss.
This natural occurrence is believed to have inspired the creation of the first kokedama…
